Products: Strings Basic Truths: The best strings are those that give you the sound you prefer, last a reasonable time and are reasonably priced. The only way to determine this is to try as many different brands as you can, then decide for yourself. There is less than a dozen string manufacturers in the world. They all sell their strings to firms that place their own brand name on them. I buy from a manufacturer that I have stuck with for 40 years. The original firm was Squier Strings. When Fender (CBS Musical Instruments back then) bought out Squier, the old owner took his string-making expertise with him and eventually started up another string company. I stayed with him. If you would like to try one of my strings (free), just let me know what gauge of unwound string you would like and I'll send it to you. Better yet, buy a set and decide if you get the sound you prefer. My strings are not supplied in slick packaging. I mainly use them on guitars I restore, but will sell them separately if anyone wants to buy them. What counts is whether you like them or not, and there is only one way to find out. Gauges provided with each stock set are listed, but if you prefer other gauges simply list what you want and I will package them that way. ...Tom
