I Can't Leave the House
Room #5
They deliver almost everything
Books and films and food
Two steps to the mailbox
That much I can do
I open the blinds
It's the sun that I miss
I'm the queen of my castle
Such as it is
I can't leave the house
It's just my little quirk
I wait around
Till he comes home from work
And he'll ask how I am
But not where I've been
And neither of us knows just when
I boxed myself in
I can't leave the house
As a girl I spent my time
In the town park two blocks down
Laughing as I ran so fast
My arms would flap around
Now you know if I could
I'd stroll right down the street
But the sidewalk might roll up and swallow my feet
I can't leave the house
It's just my little quirk
I wait around
Till he comes home from work
And it's not what you'd think
It isn't what he wants
He sits beside me looking outside
Acting nonchalant
'Cause I can't leave the house
I can't leave the house
It seems to be my plight
I wait around
Till he comes home at night
And he shows me such love
Through this dark comedy
And he waits while I look for
A bit of bravery
'Cause I can't leave the house
